The Rescue Diver program develops your knowledge and skills so you can effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and render first aid. The program is an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
• To provide students with the basic knowledge and skills of First Aid and rescue skills procedures
• To provide student divers how to anticipate, prevent and manage potential dive accidents
• To prepare student diver to perform a search pattern using proper search techniques
• To handle an accident while waiting for emergency medical care
PROGRAM OUTLINES
This course covers First Aid for diving, illness and marine life emergency procedure, First Aid equipment, assist and transport, missing diver procedures, in water resuscitation and the application of emergency procedures.
LEARNING APPROACH
Practical sessions with lectures, discussions, and small group activities, audiovisual materials
METHOD OF ASSESSMENT
Knowledge mastery is assessed using Knowledge Reviews, Quizzes and Final Exam with a minimum score of 75%. Skills mastery is assessed by student demonstration of skill proficiency and competency in water.
